The stand supports the iPad for desktop viewing and lays flat for typing. It can support the iPad in either portrait or landscape viewing with access to the dock port. The Compass Stand supports both Ipad 1 and Ipad 2, also if you use a cover on either versions of the Ipad, the stand will work allowing you to leave your cover on!
